What Are Fastbraces®?

Fastbraces® is a revolutionary orthodontic system that shortens the time it takes to straighten teeth compared to traditional braces. Developed by Dr. Anthony Viazis, Fastbraces uses a unique triangular bracket design and a specially-shaped wire that allows for faster tooth movement. This technology results in shorter treatment times and minimizes discomfort during the process.

How Do Fastbraces® Work?

Fastbraces employ a patented triangular bracket design, increasing the distance between the brackets. This allows for greater flexibility in the wire, leading to more efficient and faster tooth movement. Traditional braces typically move the crown of the tooth first, followed by the root. Fastbraces, on the other hand, move both the crown and root simultaneously, significantly reducing the overall treatment time.

What are the benefits of Fastbraces?

Fastbraces offer several advantages over traditional braces:

  • Faster treatment time: The most significant benefit of Fastbraces is the reduced treatment time, which can range from three months to about a year, depending on the case’s complexity. Traditional braces can take up to two years or more to achieve the desired results.
  • Less discomfort: Due to the unique bracket design and flexible wire, patients often report less discomfort during treatment with Fastbraces compared to traditional braces.
  • Fewer dental visits: With Fastbraces, you’ll require fewer adjustment appointments, saving you time and making the treatment more convenient.
  • Cost-effective: Fastbraces can be more cost-effective than traditional braces since the treatment time is shorter.
  • Improved oral hygiene: With a shorter treatment time, there’s a reduced risk of oral hygiene issues arising from wearing braces for an extended period.

Are Fastbraces suitable for everyone?

Fastbraces can be an excellent option for most patients, including children, teens, and adults. They effectively treat various orthodontic issues such as crowding, spacing, overbites, underbites, crossbites, and open bites. However, the suitability of Fastbraces depends on the complexity of the case and individual patient needs. During your consultation at DeSoto Family Dentistry, Dr. Varkey or Dr. Siddiqui will assess your situation and determine if Fastbraces are the right choice.

How often will I need to visit the dentist during my Fastbraces treatment?

One of the advantages of Fastbraces is that they require fewer dental visits than traditional braces. Typically, patients must visit DeSoto Family Dentistry for adjustments every four to six weeks. However, the frequency of appointments may vary depending on your specific treatment plan. Dr. Varkey and Dr. Siddiqui will provide you with a customized schedule for your visits.

What is the cost of Fastbraces in DeSoto, TX?

The cost of Fastbraces can vary depending on the complexity of your case and the duration of your treatment. Generally, Fastbraces can be more cost-effective than traditional braces due to the shorter treatment time. At DeSoto Family Dentistry, we strive to make orthodontic treatment affordable for our patients. We offer various payment options and accept most dental insurance plans. During your consultation, our team will provide you with a detailed cost estimate and discuss payment options to help you make an informed decision.

Are Fastbraces painful?

While some discomfort is expected during any orthodontic treatment, Fastbraces are designed to minimize discomfort. The unique triangular bracket design and flexible wire contribute to less pain during the tooth movement process. Most patients find Fastbraces more comfortable than traditional braces. If you experience any discomfort, over-the-counter pain relievers and a soft diet can help alleviate the pain during the initial days of treatment.

How do I care for my teeth during Fastbraces treatment?

Maintaining good oral hygiene is crucial during Fastbraces treatment. Here are some tips for caring for your teeth while wearing Fastbraces:

  • Brush your teeth at least twice a day using a soft-bristle toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Spend extra time cleaning around the brackets and wires to remove plaque and food particles.
  • Use a floss threader or orthodontic floss daily to clean between your teeth and under the wires.
  • Rinse with an antimicrobial mouthwash to help reduce plaque and prevent gum disease.
  • Visit DeSoto Family Dentistry for regular dental cleanings and checkups as recommended by Dr. Varkey or Dr. Siddiqui.
  • Avoid hard, sticky, and chewy foods that can damage your brackets and wires.

How long does the treatment with Fastbraces take?

The treatment time with Fastbraces varies depending on the complexity of the case and the patient’s individual needs. Generally, Fastbraces treatment can take anywhere from three months to about a year. In some cases, patients may start seeing noticeable improvements in their smile within just a few weeks. During your initial consultation at DeSoto Family Dentistry, Dr. Varkey or Dr. Siddiqui will give you a more accurate estimate of your treatment time based on your specific orthodontic needs.

Currently, there are following two types of Fastbraces® available on the market:

  • Classic series
  • Turbo series.

With classic series braces, treatment time is around four-six months in duration. The turbo series is designed to achieve results in under 120 days.

Predictably, the turbo series is more costly than the classic series, requiring greater precision.

However, the Turbo version incorporates advanced materials and a modified treatment approach that enables even faster tooth movement. This accelerated process allows patients to complete their orthodontic treatment in an exceptionally short amount of time.

How long does the treatment with Fastbraces Turbo take?

  • Fewer dental visits: With an accelerated treatment time, you’ll require even fewer adjustment appointments, saving you time and making the process more convenient.
  • Enhanced aesthetics: Fastbraces Turbo uses tooth-colored brackets and wires, making them less noticeable than traditional metal braces.
  • Retention: Just like the traditional Fastbraces system, Fastbraces Turbo patients will also receive a retainer to maintain their new smile after treatment.

What happens after my Fastbraces treatment is completed?

Once your Fastbraces treatment is completed, Dr. Varkey or Dr. Siddiqui will remove the brackets and wires. They will then provide you with a retainer to wear as instructed. Having a straighter smile can not only boost your self-confidence but also improve your overall oral health. A well-aligned set of teeth are easier to care for and won’t wear down as quickly. But when it comes to orthodontic treatments, most adults don’t find traditional metal braces to be an attractive option. Fortunately, you don’t have to wear metal wires and brackets to get a straighter smile, thanks to clear aligners! At DeSoto Family Dentistry, we offer Clear Aligners, an invisible alternative to traditional braces.

Contact us

What are Clear Aligners?

Clear Aligners is a modern orthodontic solution that is specifically designed to guide and shift your teeth as needed to address problems like crowding or misalignment and create a beautiful, straight smile. Clear Aligners are custom-made to fit your unique needs, and they are virtually invisible! It’s a great alternative to traditional metal braces, offering a discreet way to get the smile you love.

this picture shows how our cosmetic dentist in DeSoto can straighten your smile with trio clear aligners, after clear aligners

Why Choose Clear Aligners?

The way your teeth fit together and function has a great impact on the overall health of your mouth. Misaligned teeth can contribute to further health issues such as TMJ disorder, migraine headaches, enamel wear, periodontal diseases, etc. With a healthier, properly aligned smile, your teeth and jaws will be able to function as nature intended. This reduces unnecessary strain on your teeth and muscles, preventing complications like pain due to overuse. They also effectively close the gaps, reducing the chance for food to get trapped in hard-to-reach places.

With Clear Aligners, you don’t have to worry about the appearance of traditional braces that affect your life and career while receiving the benefits of orthodontic treatment. And that’s just one of many advantages that come with choosing Clear Aligner treatment. Here are a few more reasons why Clear Aligners could be an ideal choice for you:

  • Aesthetic Option
Clear Aligners are transparent and virtually invisible. It also utilizes small indents inside the aligners, avoiding any significant bumps or attachments, which makes it barely noticeable and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Safety
Clear Aligners are custom-made to comfortably fit on your teeth and partially over your gums so that both teeth and gums are safely protected as they shift over time.
  • Comfort
Clear Aligners technology gradually shifts the teeth into position so you don’t have to deal with uncomfortable metal wires and brackets like with traditional braces. The aligner trays are so thin and they exert soft pressure on your teeth during the first stages of your treatment, making the shift as comfortable and effective as possible.
  • Hygiene
These Clear Aligners are removable, which provides easy access for cleaning compared to fixed treatment alternatives. Additionally, Clear Aligner technology allows you to change your aligners often so you can have a fresher experience. With just a few seconds of effort every day, you can experience the difference and get straighter teeth.
  • No Diet Restriction
Because Clear Aligners are removable, you can continue to enjoy all the foods that you love during the treatment. Whereas for fixed treatments like braces, you are required to avoid certain types of foods that can cause damage.

FASTBRACES®

A Lot Can Happen In 120 Days!

There are multiple options available when it comes to adjusting teeth that are misaligned or out of place. At DeSoto Family Dentistry, we specialize in Fastbraces®, an advanced orthodontic technology that can achieve straighter teeth in as little as 120 days! It uses groundbreaking technology designed to cut out the two-step process of traditional braces. One of the key benefits of using FastBraces® for straightening teeth is that patients see a noticeable difference in their teeth within a matter of days.

Contact us

What Are Fastbraces®?

Fastbraces® has established itself as one of the most attractive and effective alternatives to traditional orthodontic braces over the last quarter-century. Its patented system provides excellent orthodontic results for patients, while drastically reducing the amount of time needed to achieve those results. With Fastbraces®, treatment times are no longer measured in years; instead, they can sometimes be measured in days.

At their core, Fastbraces® follow the same reliable wire-and-bracket system as conventional braces. Brackets affix to the teeth, and wires are used to pull the brackets into the desired position. Fastbraces® are available as metal wire and brackets, and as ceramic wire and brackets for a more discrete, cosmetically pleasing look.

How Do Fastbraces® Work?

Orthodontic issues are caused when teeth fail to crown properly, coming out tilted, sideways, overlapping, or spaced apart. All of these issues stem from the placement and alignment of the tooth root.

Fastbraces® wire bracket system works by uprighting the root of the teeth from the first appointment. This, along with more precise bracket placement thanks to computer-guided treatment plans, allows the system to work over much reduced periods of time compared to conventional braces.

How Long Does Treatment Last?

Currently, there are following two types of Fastbraces® available on the market:

  • Classic series
  • Turbo series.

With classic series braces, treatment time is around four-six months in duration. The turbo series is designed to achieve results in under 120 days.

Predictably, the turbo series is more costly than the classic series, as it requires greater precision to work.

Are Fastbraces® Usable in All Orthodontic Cases?

Fastbraces® can treat most orthodontic cases. There are some limits, and some cases will necessarily take longer than the ideal treatment times advertised.

For example, it’s important to note that treatment times are given under the assumption that there is no surgical component to the orthodontic case. Some misalignments and malocclusions require a preliminary round of surgery, sometimes to remove teeth there is simply no room for before orthodontic appliances can be employed.

Likewise, while Fastbraces® turbo’s treatment times are targeted towards 120 days, this assumes a non-deep bite case. For those instances, it will take somewhat longer to achieve the results.

Dr. Varkey will be able to advise you whether your particular case is suitable for Fastbraces® technology, and how long the expected treatment time will be. Call our office today to schedule an appointment.

Porcelain Veneers

PORCELAIN VENEERS

There’s No Reason To Live With Tooth Loss.

If you have stained, chipped, cracked, gapped, or broken teeth, we can brighten and repair most cosmetic flaws with porcelain veneers. Adding porcelain veneers to your smile is a straightforward procedure that can resolve several dental issues. In most cases, the process can be completed in just two visits to our Desoto office.

Contact us

Welcome to DeSoto Family Dentistry!

Dr. Varkey and his team are dedicated to providing their patients with compassionate and comprehensive dental care. On this page, we will address frequently asked questions about porcelain veneers in DeSoto, TX, and provide detailed information to help you make informed decisions about your dental care.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Veneers are thin shells of tooth-colored material that attach to the front surfaces of your teeth to enhance their appearance. Veneers are able to address a variety of cosmetic issues, such as chipped, broken, discolored, or smaller-than-average-sized teeth. While some patients might only receive one veneer for a chipped or broken tooth, it is common to receive six to eight veneers on the top front teeth to ensure a symmetrical smile.

Who Is a Suitable Candidate?

Ideal candidates for porcelain veneers are those who:

  • Have healthy teeth and gums
  • Have good oral hygiene habits
  • Have sufficient tooth enamel
  • Are looking to correct cosmetic issues such as discoloration, chips, cracks, or gaps between teeth
  • Have realistic expectations regarding the results.

During your consultation, Dr. Varkey will thoroughly evaluate your dental health and discuss your goals to determine if porcelain veneers are the right solution for you.

Why Porcelain Veneers Are So Popular

An Easy Procedure: Because they can treat a variety of cosmetic blemishes in a relatively straightforward procedure, veneers have become increasingly more popular in the world of cosmetic dentistry.

Natural Look and Feel: Porcelain also reflects light in the same way as natural tooth enamel, making your new smile appear naturally beautiful!

Customized For You: Your veneers are carefully designed and made to fit your facial features. They are designed and constructed to your exact specifications to blend in with your natural teeth to improve your overall facial appearance.

Porcelain veneers have other benefits, too:

  • Strength and durability
  • Stain-resistant
  • Easy to maintain

How Are Porcelain Veneers Applied?

The process of applying porcelain veneers typically involves three appointments at DeSoto Family Dentistry:

  1. Consultation: Dr. Varkey will discuss your goals, evaluate your dental health, and determine if porcelain veneers are the right solution for you.
  2. Preparation: A small amount of tooth enamel will be removed to create room for the veneer. An impression of your teeth will be taken and sent to a dental laboratory, where your custom veneers will be created. A temporary veneer may be placed on your tooth while you wait for your permanent veneers to be fabricated.
  3. Bonding: Once your custom veneers are ready, Dr. Varkey will bond them to your teeth using a strong dental adhesive. He will make any necessary adjustments to ensure a perfect fit and a natural-looking result.

How Much Do Porcelain Veneers Cost?

The cost of porcelain veneers can vary depending on several factors, including the number of veneers needed, the complexity of your case, and the specific materials used. On average, you can expect to pay between $900 and $3,000 per tooth for porcelain veneers in DeSoto, TX. It is important to note that dental insurance typically does not cover the cost of cosmetic procedures such as porcelain veneers. However, our team at DeSoto Family Dentistry will work with you to develop a payment plan that suits your budget. Please visit our Insurance & Financing page to learn more. We also accept major credit cards, cash, ATM cards, and personal checks. For specific cost information, please schedule an appointment so we can assess your options.

How Long Do Porcelain Veneers Last?

With proper care and maintenance, porcelain veneers can last for 10 to 15 years or even longer. The longevity of your veneers will depend on your oral hygiene habits, the quality of the dental materials used, and the skill of the dental professional who placed them. To ensure that your veneers last as long as possible, follow Dr. Varkey’s recommendations for care and maintenance.

How Do I Care For My Porcelain Veneers?

Caring for porcelain veneers is similar to caring for your natural teeth. To maintain the appearance and longevity of your veneers, follow these steps:

  • Brush your teeth twice a day using a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste.
  • Floss daily to remove plaque and food particles from between your teeth.
  • Visit DeSoto Family Dentistry for regular dental check-ups and professional cleanings.
  • Avoid biting on hard objects such as ice or hard candy, as this can damage your veneers.
  • If you grind your teeth at night, ask Dr. Varkey about a custom-made night guard to protect your veneers.
  • Limit the consumption of staining foods and beverages, such as coffee, tea, red wine, and berries.

What if My Porcelain Veneer Chips or Falls Off?

If your porcelain veneer chips or falls off, contact DeSoto Family Dentistry immediately to schedule an appointment with Dr. Varkey. In some cases, a chipped veneer can be repaired, while in other cases, a replacement veneer may be necessary. If your veneer falls off, keep it in a safe place and bring it with you to your appointment. Dr. Varkey will assess the situation and recommend the best course of action to restore your smile.

Are There Any Alternatives to Porcelain Veneers?

Yes, there are several alternatives to porcelain veneers that can also improve the appearance of your smile. Some of these alternatives include:

  • Composite bonding: A tooth-colored resin material is applied to the tooth and shaped to correct minor cosmetic issues such as chips, cracks, or discoloration.
  • Dental crowns: A custom-made cap covering the entire tooth, providing cosmetic and restorative benefits.
  • Orthodontics: Braces or clear aligners can correct misaligned teeth or close gaps between teeth, improving the overall appearance of your smile.

During your consultation, Dr. Varkey will discuss these options and help you determine which solution is best for your unique needs.
